AmeriHealth Caritas Appoints Neil Gomes as Senior Vice President, Chief Digital Officer; and Ngoc Trang as Senior Vice President, Chief Actuary

AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in Medicaid managed care and other health care solutions for those most in need, announced the appointment of Neil Gomes as Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer; and Ngoc Trang as Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary.
Gomes will be responsible for continuing the growth of the Digital team and its capabilities. The role underscores the importance of data and analytics, and the essential role they play in the company’s goal to achieve better outcomes and higher levels of member satisfaction. Gomes will report to Paul A. Tufano, Chairman and CEO of AmeriHealth Caritas.
Trang will play an essential role in risk oversight as she works with the company’s health care plans and product teams to develop and execute product, pricing, and cost strategies. Trang will report to Bob Kolodgy, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.

Gomes brings more than 20 years of experience in digital transformation and a successful history of leading digital innovation in executive positions. He served as system Senior Vice President for digital and human experiences at CommonSpirit Health®, Chief Executive Officer and founder of NG Insights, and the Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer for Thomas Jefferson University® and Jefferson Health®. He also held multiple digital roles over 12 years working with his alma mater, the University of South Florida.

Gomes holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Management Studies degrees from Goa University in India; a Master of Education and doctoral candidacy in instructional design and technology from the University of South Florida; and an Executive Master of Business Administration from Brown University and IE Business School.
Gomes has also held seats on several advisory boards, including Adobe®, IBM Watson IoT®, Education Managment Solutions, AT&T Business®, and Imprivata®.
Trang joins AmeriHealth Caritas with a background in finance, underwriting and actuary built over a career spanning nearly two decades. She joins AmeriHealth Caritas after a 17-year tenure with Aetna®, where she took on increasingly challenging actuarial and underwriting roles. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Group Medicare and Actuarial and Underwriting, and played a critical role in helping the company achieve its growth objectives through sound pricing practices, strategic underwriting, and client support.

A graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts, Trang is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries®. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Hands On Hartford, a Connecticut-based nonprofit that serves Hartford’s most economically challenged residents in the areas of food, housing, and health.
